Upcoming work

Sarah continues to beaver away at Beaverhall Studios in Edinburgh and teaches freelance. In 2021 Sarah is planning her solo exhibition at Dawyck Botanic Gardens in the Scottish Borders, and is delighted to represent Scotland in the acclaimed Fabriano in Acquarello international watercolour exhibition. Closer to home, Sarah is excited to be taking part in Forthlineproject a community art project responding to the environment and wildlife on Edinburgh’s shoreline. This year also sees her paintings and prints in various group exhibitions, including: Tatha Gallery, St Margaret’s House and Velvet Easel Gallery, Edinburgh. Following her lockdown focus #sarahknoxgardencanvas Sarah painted several clients’ gardens and is delighted to accept new commissions.

New works

Sarah has been working through the second lockdown by increasingly focusing her painting on dream-like landscapes that flit between reality and unreality. These artworks reflect the feeling of uncertainty of this time.
Her courageous enquiry explores the theme and motifs of Lost Worlds using restricted palettes and evocative colour.

She continues to draw and paint en plein air in all weathers, visually recording gardens and hidden places: the Botanics, Malleny House, Duddingston and Cammo in Edinburgh. This gathering of sketchbook information is constantly transformed into refined paintings and prints at her Beaverhall Studio in Edinburgh.

Sarah is optimistic that her exhibitions will happen in 2021 and will keep you posted.

Sarah Knox Garden Canvas

Here are photos of Sarah currently working in her lockdown studio at home. She has given herself the creative challenge of taking part in the #100daysproject and is developing a series of drawings and paintings of the five gardens in the street where she lives in Edinburgh. Do take a look using the hashtag #sarahknoxgardencanvas.
